Himachal Governor, V.S. Kokje stressed upon the need to preserve temples which had historical and archeological importance. He said that there was a need to prepare an elaborate plan to ensure preservation and proper maintenance of such monuments in the State.
Governor visited Mahakal temple which was one of its kind in northern India, near Baijnath in district Kangra and offered prayers today.
Kokje interacted with the members of the Management Committee of the temple and expressed satisfaction over the facilities being provided to the devotees. He also lauded the efforts of the management for carrying out the beautification of the temple complex.
Governor said that the State had many such temples which had religious and cultural importance which needed to be projected from tourism point of view in order to attract maximum tourists.
Earlier, Governor also offered prayed at famous Shiv temple at Baijnath.
