According to a Himachal Government press note, a meeting with all the Members and public representatives of 1000 MW Karcham-Wangtoo Hydel Power Sangarh Samiti would be held on 21st December, 2006 at 10.30 A.M. at H.P. Secretariat, Shimla.
The Himcahl government spokesman said that State Government was committed to protect the interests of the people of the State in all the hydel power projects. He said that the talk with Members of the Sangarsh Samiti of the project was continued in this regard and added that the Govt. has now decided that the dialogue with agitating people would also be continued at State-level. He said that all concerned persons had been invited for attending the meeting at State-level.
The Spokesman further said that State Government was committed for rehabilitation of the oustee families with the construction of hydel power projects and added that Government had already given directions to the project authority for rehabilitation of affected families due to execution of Karcham-Wangtoo hydel power project. He said that socio-economic and cultural development of the area would be ensured by taking the people into confidence. He said that the drinking water supply schemes which would be affected due to construction of the project would be re-constructed by the project authority. He said that the ambitious project would ensure overall development of the area.
