Chaudhary Sarvan Kumar HPVK celeberated its 11th convocation ceremony. The University is situated at Palampur surrounded by the mystic Dhauladhars at an elevation of 1250 metres. It is near Pathankot railhead (further connected with a meter gauge train to Palampur) and is well connected from all important places of the country by road (NH20) and air (Kangra airport is arount 50 Kms).
Shri V.S. Kokje, Governor of Himachal Pradesh who is also the Chancellor of the CSK.H.P. Agriculture University awarded 877 Degrees, 154 Certificates of Honour and 59 Gold Medals to Graduates and Post Graduates in various disciplines of four constituent colleges of the University.
Dr. D.S. Rathore, Vice Chancellor, while presenting the Progress Report of the University, informed that 1,491 students were admitted to various UG and PG programmes in four constituent colleges of the University during the last five years. He said that a proposal for the establishment of Hill Farming School at the University had been accepted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under National Agriculture Innovation Project (NIAP) with the objectives of providing reorientation to agricultural teachers, officers and farmers. He told that ICAR has awarded Certificate of Accreditation to the University and now it was in the process of acquiring ISO 9001-2000 certification. He said that the university had entered into an MOU with the Kansas State University, USA for International cooperation and collaboration in research and education and added that the university had signed MOU with Indira Gandhi National Open University and was in the process of starting Certificate and Diploma courses for the farmers, farm ladies and others. He informed that from the next academic session, five new Post-Graduate Programmes at Masters and Doctoral level would be introduced.
