Week-long International Mandi Shivratri Mahotsav Inaugrated by Himachal CM

Shimla: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal today, inaugrated the worldwide famous Shivratri Mahotsav at historical Paddal Maidan in Mandi. He paid his obeisance to the presiding deity of Raj Madhav Rao and led the ceremonial procession originating from the temple of Raj Madhav Rao, which culminated at Paddal Maidan, where he unfurled the Mela flag to formally inaugurate the fair.
Apart from arrival of devtas, the traditional turbans worn by the people became center of attraction by sprinkling colour to the procession.

Prof. Dhumal while addressing the mammoth gathering on the occasion announced enhancement in ‘Nazarana’ to the participating deities by 25 percent. He announced Rs. 15 lakhs for construction of Bhanrotu-Mallah-Tikkar road in the name of Kargil martyrs of the area. He reiterated the resolve of the State Government to extend due honour to the martyrs and their wards who have made supreme sacrifices towards the country. He also announced 25 percent hike in honorarium of traditional instrumentalists. CM also launched Mandi Shivratri website.
