Govt. for setting up Primate Protection Parks and Sterilization Centres

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government has decided to set up Primate Protection Parks and Sterilization Centres in the State to tackle the problem of monkey menace said Forest Minister J.P. Nadda.
He said that one Sterilization Centre was operational at Tutukandi in Shimla and other would be set up at Gopalpur in district Kangra and Tal in district Hamirpur by spending Rs. 2.6 crore. The latter two centres would be made operational within six months and a target of sterilizing 5000 monkeys in two years in each centre is set.
He also added that two Primate Protection Parks on the lines of Asola Wildlife Sanctuary of Delhi will also be set up in the state. Among which one such park will be opened this year in March at Taradevi near Shimla whereas the other would be set up at Jheen in Hamirpur district.
An expenditure of Rs. 1.51 crore is expected for each park.
