Himachal Pradesh- a state on rise-sets Rs. 50,000 crore investment target

Shri Kuldeep Kumar, Industries Minister said that State Government had set up a target to seek investment of Rs. 50,000 crore till 2010 under the Central Industrial Package and added that Government would acquire 15,000 bighas additional land to develop 60 new industrial areas in the State. He was speaking in the Himachal Day Function organized in the International Trade Fair at New Delhi.

He said that land would be acquired in industrial areas Baddi-Barotiwala, Nalagarh, Kala Amb, Paonta and Una and added that Special Economic Zones were being set up in Kangra, Una and Solan districts with an investment of Rs. 6580 crore. He said that the proposal which was submitted for the purpose to the Central Government was approved.

Shri Kuldeep Kumar said that Multi Product Special Economic Zone would be set up at Nurpur in Kangra district at a cost of Rs. 2000 crore and added that an airport based Special Economic Zone would be set up in Una at a cost of Rs. 4392 crore besides Waknaghat in Solan district at a cost of Rs. 1188 crore.

Shri Kuldeep Kumar said that Container Corporation of India will set up an Inland Container Depot at Baddi in Solan district and added that custom department will clear the exportable goods at this depot and will be sent directly to the destination without any other procedural formalities.

Shri Kuldeep Kumar said that 41 industrial areas and 15 industrial estates were developed at a cost of Rs. 65.17 crore during last three years in the State and Rs. 30.22 crore were being spent under ‘Aside’ scheme in order to strengthen industrial infrastructure in industrial areas. He said that a short term infrastructure plan was being implemented with the objective of improving basic infrastructure at a cost of Rs. 21.15 crore whereas Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority was constituted for planned development of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh area besides a master plan was also being formulated for overall development of the area. He said that Rs. 25.03 crore had been spent under Aside Scheme on creation of export infrastructure during last three years in Kala Amb-Parwanoo-Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh region which was main export corridor of the State.

Shri Kuldeep Kumar said that Government had decided to actively engage the private sector investment for creating cheap housing facilities to the workers and middle class professionals in the industrial areas of the State and added that State Government had decided to give permission to the industrial houses to purchase land for creating housing facilities to their workers. He said that the State Government has given licenses to 10 private builders for construction of 5932 dwelling units with an estimated cost of Rs. 593 crore. He said that State Agency HIMUDA is also constructing 896 one room flats for the industrial workers working in Parwanoo, Baddi and Nalagarh. He said that State Agency HIMUDA had also acquired 890 bighas of land at Mandhala near Baddi for development of housing colony for working class professionals.

Earlier, Shri Kuldeep Kumar also visited the Himachal Pavilion.
