Delhi policemen’s houses in Ghaziabad looted

Ghaziabad, July 3 (IANS) Bandits armed with iron roads looted cash, jewellery and other valuables from six houses in Ghaziabad, with three of the houses belonging to serving and retired policemen from Delhi.

The criminals, allegedly members of the Bawaria community, critically injured some of the occupants when they resisted them. The incident took place Tuesday night in Jawali locality.

Police said the six dacoits carried iron roads and knives, wore only undergarments and had applied oil on themselves — so that no one succeeds in pinning them down.

The dacoits, who were in a Maruti van, first hit the house of Delhi Police constable Anoop Upadhyay. Here, they even seized Upadhyay’s uniform and mobile phone in addition to cash and jewellery.

After this, they attacked the houses of Delhi Police sub-inspectors Harbir Singh and Nepal Singh from where they took away all the available valuables.

After targeting two more houses, the criminals barged into the house of Delhi Metro employee Jaivir Singh and fled with valuables after attacking the man and his wife. His condition is said to be critical.

“We hope to work out the case soon,” Superintendent of Police Jagdish Sharma told IANS.
