New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) A 27-year-old married woman was beaten up and an attempt was made to drag her into a car by two men involved in an incident of road rage, said police Sunday.
The assault on the woman, wife of a Good Samaritan, followed a car’s collision with an autorickshaw, and was reported from south Delhi’s Panchsheel Enclave area Saturday around 10.15 p.m., police said.
She was assaulted after her husband, Nilendu, as a Good Samaritan, tried to intervene in a quarrel between the car owner and the aurorickshaw driver involved in the minor collision, police said.
The woman, a homemaker who hails from Assam, was returning home from Safdarjung Enclave with her husband after celebrating their first wedding anniversary, police said.
The couple was driving in their car when they saw a minor collision between the car and the autorickshaw, whose drivers were engaged in an argument on the road.
When the woman’s husband Nilendu tried to intervene in their argument, the accused attacked him. Upon this, the woman tried to stop them from attacking her husband, but the motorists slapped and pushed her.
“The accused also tried to drag her inside their car before fleeing from the spot,” said police.
