New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) Delhiites woke up to pleasant morning Friday with an overcast sky and light drizzle. The minimum temperature settled at 25.9 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average. The Met Office has forecast more rain later in the day.
“The sky will remain cloudy. Few spells of thundershowers are expected later in the day,” said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The city recorded 2.2 mm rainfall between 8.30 a.m. Thursday and 8.30 a.m. Friday, the IMD official added.
Humidity was 74 percent at 8.30 a.m. Friday. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius mark.
Thursday’s maximum temperature settled at 37.1 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the year, while the minimum temperature settled at 28.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above average.
According to the IMD, monsoon arrived in Delhi a fortnight ahead of schedule June 16. The city has so far received a total rainfall of 115.3 mm.
