New Delhi, June 5 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee Wednesday skipped the chief ministers’ conference on internal security that is likely to chalk out a new strategy to check the growing violence by Maoist guerrillas.
“Madam Jayalalithaa has informed that she will be not attending the chief minister’s conference in Delhi today. A statement was issued by her Tuesday itself,” AIADMK leader V. Maitreyan told IANS.
Wednesday’s meeting, convened by the home ministry and inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, will deliberate extensively on the activities of Pakistan-based terrorist groups, infiltration from across the border, communal disturbances and ways of improving intelligence gathering mechanisms.
