Tennis: Easy for seeded players

Bangalore, May 21 (IANS) Top-ranked Siddant Jagdish Banthia led the bunch of seeded players into the quarter-finals of the Karle Infra ATF Under-14 Asian ranking junior tennis tournament here Tuesday that saw all fancied players making smooth progress.

Joining Banthia in the round of eight were local hopes, second seed Adil Kalyanpur and No.3 Sai Pranav Ponaka both of whom made an untroubled progress.

The results:

Boys singles (pre-quarter-finals): Siddant Jagdish Banthia bt V Sai Krishna 6-1, 6-1; Prakrut Patel bt Maaz Khan 7-5,4-6,6-2; Megh Patel bt Anirudh Murthy 6-1, 7-5 ; Yavin Solomon bt Preet Kumar 6-0,6-4; Adil Kalyanpur bt Durga Himmakesh 6-2,6-4; Dhruv Sunish bt Nikit Reddy 6-3, 6-0 ; SM Aadhitya bt Vamsi Krishna ayneni 7-6 ( 1 ), 7-6 ( 3 ) ; Sai Pranav Ponaka bt Rohit Naaqsimhan 6-3, 6-3.

Girls singles (1st round): Sama Sathvika bt Yubrani Banerji 6-3,6-2; Muskan Ranjan bt Neha Mokhasi 6-4, 6-4; Celine B Mariya bt Khyati Hambardikar 6-2, 6-2; Shaikh Humera bt sheikh Tahora 7-5, 6-1; Sonashee Bhatnagar bt Chaitali Narde 6-1, 6-1.
