Dharamsala: The Gorkha community of Himachal is no mood to patch up with former BJP minister Ravinder Singh Ravi for his unsavory remarks about community in the assembly.
Gorkha leaders of Punjab and Himachal and the leaders of Gorkha Vikas Parishad met here today and decided to intensify the agitation against BJP MLA for seeking a public apology from the legislator.
Bhupender Singh President of Himachal and Punjab Gorkha association said, “If Ravi will not apologise within a week, we will launch nationwide agitation.”
The Gorkha community on 8th April had burnt an effigy of the Ravi at Dhramshala- over “derogatory” remarks made in the Himachal Vidhan Sabha discussion about containing the monkey and stray dog menace in the state by suggesting that deploying Gorkha and Nagas regiments in the state could help to reduce their population.
Later Ravi withdrew his controversial statement in the house and the remarks were expunged from the records of the state assembly.
