British girl found hanging after row with brother

London: A 12-year-old schoolgirl in Britain was found hanging after she was sent to bed early following a row with her twin brother about sharing the family computer, an inquest heard.

The girl from Walkden, Greater Manchester, staged a “demonstration of annoyance” in the expectation of being found quickly and “shocking” relatives into a response, the Daily Mail reported.

But it was 15 minutes before her twin brother found her as he went upstairs to bed.

The schoolgirl died despite her mother’s attempts to revive her.

The girl, described as a “happy and outgoing” schoolgirl, had been arguing with her twin about using the family computer.

The youngster was told to go to bed but stormed upstairs and hanged herself Feb 5.

Her mother said she was a happy, outgoing girl, and had been happy all that week and was looking forward to going to Spain for the summer holidays.

She had a boyfriend and they had a good relationship. She did not have any issues and was happy at school where she had lots of friends, her mother said.

“She had never attempted to take her life before. We can’t understand, we think it was an accident which went wrong. We can’t believe it was intentional, there are no issues over the circumstances of her death,” she said.

The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
