Berlin, April 3 (IANS) A World War II bomb discovered in central Berlin has been defused, police said Wednesday.
The 100 kg Soviet aerial bomb, found Tuesday evening near tracks which run north of the city’s central rail station, was defused Wednesday after the evacuation of residents of nearby buildings, reports Xinhua. The operation took half hour.
Nearby roads were briefly closed, while railway traffic and flights to the city’s Tegel airport were also affected.
Sixty-eight years after the end of the WWII, thousands of unexploded bombs are still believed to be buried in Germany.
