BJP accuses UPA government of indecisiveness

New Delhi, April 3 (IANS) The BJP Wednesday accused the UPA government of indecisiveness, saying it was due to two centres of power in the Congress, leading the alliance.

“After the statement of Digvijay Singh, Janardhan Dwivedi made it clear that the duo of Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh is ideal. Having two centres of power has created indecisiveness,” Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said here.

After Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said that the twin power structure did not work well for the party, the Congress Tuesday justified the power sharing structure in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and hinted that it could be followed in the future as well.

“A message was conveyed to the country by the Congress that Sonia Gandhi gave up the post of prime minister but she did not give up power, and became one centre of power and Manmohan Singh become the other centre,” Hussain said.

He said that “the prime minister admits faults but does not improve them.”

“Today in the meeting of CII, he expressed concern over the country’s economic condition and various issues like economic slowdown and GDP, which have already been raised by the BJP. You are admitting faults but not improving it.”

Terming Singh’s statement Thursday as disappointing for the nation, Hussain said: “You are saying that the economic condition of the country is not well. Do tell the nation why has inflation increased. Why was no step taken (to contain inflation) in the last eight years?”

He said the government was in its last phase and has no credibility among people.

“Neither the opposition nor the allies trust this government. After Digvijaya Singh’s remarks, it now seems that even the Congress workers do not have faith in this government,” he added.
