Himachal government to begin with Anganwadi Attendance Certificate Scheme

Sarveen Chaudhary, the Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment said today that the state government would introduce ‘Anganwadi Attendance Certificate Scheme’ in order to motivate the parents to send their children to Anganwadi Centres.

The Minister said that the certificate would inculcate a sense of responsibility among the Anganwadi staff would be issued by respective CDPO’s on completion of non-formal pre school education by a child from an Anganwadi Centre. It could be considered as an additional incentive for enrolment of children in schools, she added.

She further said that a package of six services is being provided to the children through a network of 18248 Anganwari Centres set up under ICDS programme in the State. She said that these services are non-formal pre-school education for 3-6 years children, immunization, health check ups and supplementary nutrition to children and pregnant women/nursing mothers, health and nutrition education to all women in reproductive age group and referral services to ailing/ at risk and severely malnourished children and women.
