Shimla : The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation’s (HPTDC) popular lifts connecting the cart road and mall road will soon have CCTV cameras installed .
“Four cameras will be installed .This will not only provide safety to tourists and locals but will also monitor the services of the HPTDC staff working in the premises ,†Vineet Kumar managing director HPTDC said .
“Senior citizens already get a 30 per cent discount for travelling in this lift .Now separate ticket counters have been provided for ladies and senior citizens ,†he said .
Built in the mid 1970s the HPTDC lifts connecting the cart road and the mall every day ferry huge number of tourists and locals . In the absence of the lift they would have had to walk up the steep hill side .
