Shimla: In two separate accidents, 14 people which included 6 women and 3 children died in Sirmaur district over the last 24 hours.
District police head, Punita Bhardwaj, said that a 7 people in Bhagtan area of Renuka died in a accident that happened late on Sunday night.
“Police was only informed about the accident today morning,†she said. The dead included 2 males, 4 women and one child, she informed.
The Maruti care vehicle had lost control and rolled down into the valley, killing the occupants, she added.
In a second accident on Monday afternoon, another 7 people which included 3 males, 2 women and 2 children died in an accident that occurred around Shila Bagh area of Rajgarh.
It was a pickup utility vehicle that after losing control on the hill road, rolled about 400 meters into the valley,†said Bhardwaj.
All the dead had been identified and handed over to the relatives of the families for performing the last rites, she added.
In response to a query by a lawmaker, the Himachal Vidhan Sabha, only a week ago was informed that drunken driving, human error, bad roads, weather conditions and mechanical failure were the reasons for roads accidents in the state which had taken a toll of 3479 deaths in 3 years.
