Shimla: The Red-Ribbon Club of Dronacharya College of Education Rait (Kangra) organized a get-together meet with HIV Positive people.
On the occasion, District AIDS Project Officer Dr. R.K. Sood stated that HIV can happen to any of us. So we should treat the HIV +ive people with the same respect and dignity as we would expect others to treat us. Support for the positive people will lead to an enabling environment where people can come forward to gain knowledge and clear their doubts, know their HIV status and avail a treatment facility which is critical to combating the epidemic.
He talked about the importance of knowing one’s HIV status and advantage of HIV testing facilities at the ICTC. All pledged to talk openly about HIV/AIDS AND dispel the myths and misconception.
Mr Narender Sharma of HPVHA and peers of the RRC embraced positive speakers Mr Anant Ram, Mukesh and Anu with Jadu ki Japphi of Munnabhai Style to express their solidarity with the people living with HIV. Peer educator team leader Shweta shared that the RRC has been actively conducting various campaigns with support of HPSACS. All youth had tea with the positive people as a mark of solidarity.
