Dharamshala: With BJP denying the ticket to sitting MLA Vishal Nehria, the local party cadre here held a protest demonstration with many members of the Mahila Morcha gathering at the party office to register their angst.
The BJP Mandal workers allege that the party has not rightly allocated the party ticket for the seat by ignoring MLA Vishal Nehria and instead giving the ticket to Rakesh Choudhry, a new entrant and rank outsider to the local party unit.
Party workers gathered at the BJP election campaign office and protested against the non consideration of the sitting BJP MLA. The workers have urged the party high command to rectify their mistake.
Leading the protest, District BJP ST Morcha President Vipin Nehria said, “If the party wanted to change the sitting MLA then someone from among the Dharamshala party workers should have been given the ticket.”
“Party high command has given a ticket to such a leader who is not even known by party workers of the Mandal,” said Pawan Kumar, a BJP worker.
Sangeeta Sharma a member of BJP Mahila Morcha said that Vishal Nehria deserved the ticket as he had worked on the ground.
Meanwhile, Vipin Nehria announced that if the party did not change its stance, he would contest the election as an independent.
