Cyber Criminal Arrested From Delhi

Mandi: Cybercrime investigators made a breakthrough and arrested one person from Palam village in South-West Delhi. The investigation team has seized many mobile SIM cards, laptop, bank account details from the possession of the accused which have led to the unearthing of several other cybercrimes.Cyber Crime Workshop in Shimla

District police superintended Shalini Agnihotri here disclosed that the accused Lalkumar Das, a 26 year resident of Girdih, Jharkhand after being arrested was presented before a judicial magistrate and a 3 days police remand was granted by the court.

The police had acted on the complaint of Mukesh, a resident of Maseran village, Mandi, who had filed a complaint of fraud of 1.50 lac in Sadar Mandi police station. Someone had called him, claiming to be a bank employee and asked the victim to share details for updating the bank account details. Soon after that, the fraudster siphoned off 1.5 lac rupees from the account.

After investigating the reported incident a cyber cell team under the head constable arrested the accused from Delhi. Many fake sim cards, bank account details, laptops have been recovered from the accused, said the district police chief.

Scrutiny of the accused bank accounts revealed transactions of many lakhs which have been defrauded from victims all over India, said Agnihotri.
