Chief Minister Inaugurates Rs 239 Cr Sutlej Textiles Second Polyester Unit

Baddi: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated the second unit of Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited here today. Promoters of the company have spent Rs 239 crores to expand the industry in the state.

Speaking on the occasion the chief minister said efforts of the state government to make Himachal an investor-friendly state had enabled it to attain the 7th rank in Ease of Doing Business in the country.

The Global Investors Meet organised by the state in 2019, which was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had attracted investor interest worth Rs 96 thousand crores for which even MoUs were signed, said Thakur.

He added that the Union Government had ceded to the state demand of setting up a Rs 269 crore Medical Device Park at Nalagarh. “We have also sought setting up of a Bulk Drug Park in Himachal and are hopeful that the Union Government would soon approve it,” said the chief minister.

He informed the gathering that a detailed project report for setting up a Rs 150 crore Electronic Manufacturing Zone had been prepared and would soon be sent to the Government of India for approval.

Making a presentation Chandrashekhar Nopani, Executive Chairman of Sutlej Textiles said that the second unit of the group would produce 120 metric tonnes of polyester. He added that about 3200 persons had been provided employment at the two units established in Baddi.
