Dharamshala: Police vigilance investigators on Saturday nabbed an engineer of the Irrigation and Public Health department (IPH) for taking bribes. On Sunday he was presented before a judge who remanded the accused to three days police custody.
Balveer Jaswal, DSP Vigilance Police Station Dharamshala said that the accused has been sent on three days police remand. The bribery case would be throughly investigated and an inquiry would also be conducted into disproportionate assets of the accused, he added.
Police on Saturday red-handedly caught Kamal Kumar Sharma, an engineer with IPH at Manai subdivision of Kangra district, for taking a bribe of Rs 19,000/- from one Ajay Kumar, a private contractor.
Earlier the contractor had lodged a complaint with the police who laid a trap to nab the public official. The police team was led by Balveer Jaswal.
