Vandana Yadav, the engineer-turned journalist and writer, was bestowed with the prestigious WEF Exceptional Woman of Excellence Award, 2020 at the annual WEF event held in Cairo, Egypt the past week. Held under the auspices of H.E. Abdelfattah El Sisi, President of Egypt, the mega event brought together over 1,000 women from more than 75 countries who exchanged their experiences and knowledge with each other.
Also a speaker at the event, Vandana spoke on how travelling contributes to emergence of new ideas and helps in experiential learning. While sharing her travel stories and experiences, she said, “Travelling not only makes for a very exciting recreation but also a source of adventure, learning and creativity. Travelling helps explore stories and histories around the world. No amount of reading can ever bring the kind of depth lent by a hands-on experience.”
The forum arm of the global network ALL Ladies League (ALL), the Women Economic Forum (WEF) is an international platform enabling women leaders, entrepreneurs, authors, thought leaders and celebrities across the globe to expand business opportunities and enhance personal influence through networking. With over 100,000 members across 150 countries, ALL and WEF are amongst the largest women networks globally.

Vandana is married into a family from the Bagna village of Shillai (Sirmour). With this award, she has made Sirmour proud not only nationally but also globally. Previously, she has been awarded with The Lioness Inspiring Young Woman title by a Hyderabad-based NGO.
