Manali : To contain vehicular pollution on an Himalayan high altitude pass, finally Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC), the state road public transporter has launched an electric bus service between Manali and Rohtang Pass.
BK Narang, a regional manager of HRTC let Hill Post know said that the number electric buses on this route would be increased in coming days.
“There is much excitement among tourists wanting to visit Rohtang Pass. On Wednesday, we started an electric bus service for the bus and three buses carrying 25 passengers each were put into service. Soon we are likely to double the service, said Narang.
However, heavy traffic on the route with frequent jams takes away much of the fun of the fun ride to the pass. “If there is a smooth flow of traffic, this ride would be great fun ride for tourists,” he added.
Grappling with heavy traffic police officer Sher Singh, ”Police is doing its best to regulate a smooth flow in the area but these days tarring of the road on the Rohtang route is being done which does cause traffic jams. The road maintenance job will get over soon and smooth traffic flow will resume.”
