Shimla: Reporting a good financial performance for the year 2016-17, public sector power company SJVN Limited today declared an interim dividend of Rs 930.74 which works to Rs 2.25 rupees per share for its shareholders. This is the highest dividend declared by the public sector company, since it was established 1988.
SJVN Limited has already paid an interim dividend of Rs 599.99 crore to the union government which holds 64.5% equity in the Company. While 25.5% equity holder, the government of of Himachal Pradesh has received Rs 237.38 crore as interim dividend and Rs 93.37 crore is paid to public shareholding. Last year SJVN had paid a dividend of Rs 455.03 crore to its shareholders.
The dividend cheque was handed over to Power minister Piyush Goel by RN Misra, CMD, SJVN Limited at New Delhi.
For the year 2016-17, SJVN was targeted to generate 8700 Million Units of electricity but exceeded it and generated a total of around 8940 Million Units from its two hydropower plants, the 1500 Mw Nathpa Jhakri Plant and the 412 MW Rampur plants on Satluj River in Himachal Pradesh. SJVN also operates the 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Plant in Maharashtra.
The revenue target from sale of energy from these three plants for the year is Rs 2300 crore.
Hydro Power is the core strength of SJVN and the Company has the distinction of implementing India’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh.
SJVN is also implementing other power projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Bihar and Gujarat.
