Kullu: Police here have solved a theft case that took place at Shamshi on the night of 4/5 Septebemer and arrested four people. Out of the Rs 49 lakh reported stolen from a safe, the police have also recovered Rs 45,98,500/- from a cash box that was hidden away.
“All the four persons arrested are from Bhyuli village in Mandi district,” Padam Chand, district police chief told the media. “The thieves have confessed to breaking the safe with a hammers, carrying the cash in a box and dumping the safe into the river,” he said.
Police have recovered the hammers used for the theft. In all 9 people are said to be involved in the theft.
The investigation team lead by police officers Nishchint Singh Negi (ASP) and Ajay Kumar (SHO) scanned mobile phone call details near the incident of crime that helped to crack the case.
Those arrested have also disclosed that they had advanced some amount of the stolen cash to a financer from Bilaspur district.
Police have set out teams to arrest the financer and other members of the gang.
