Dharamshala: District magistrate Ritesh Chauhan has declared that one 18 lakh sq meter of land in Kangra valley had been cleared of cannabis and opium plants and the district was free of these plants.
The plants were uprooted under a statewide cannabis destroying drive that was launched by the government on 22, August 2016. “The district was free of cannabis and opium plants,” said Chauhan.
The cannabis eradication drive that ended on 5th September was a collaborative effort by various state agencies, which included the panchayats, personnel of the forest, agriculture, horticulture, public works department and others.
