Shimla: The black gowns, a hangover from colonial times, worn for holding of formal convocations at universities across the country is being replaced by traditional Himachali Dress at the state university here.
Executive council of Himachal Pradesh University at it is important budget meeting on Wednesday approved the new dress code for holding of convocations.
The university’s annual budget of Rs 177.50 crore for 2016-17 approved by council at the meet left a Rs 20.36 crore deficit uncovered as it projected the years income at Rs 157.13 crore, which included Rs 67.13 crore revenue generated by the university and Rs 90 crore grants extended by the state government.
