Shimla: By operating a large 1500 MW hydroelectric plant at 107.97% plant availability factor, SJVN – a mini Ratna public sector power generating company, achieved a record generation of 39.363 million units of energy on 3rd September from its flagship Nathpa Jhakri plant.
The plant has an installed capacity of generating 36 million units per day and the earlier record generation achieved by the plant was 39.266 million units, a SJVN spokesman stated.
“The feat was made possible because of efficient machine and water management during the season, when normally the silt remains high in Satluj River,” said RN Misra, chairman-cum-managing director of the PSU.
The plant is already racing ahead of its current year’s generation target, where against a dated target of 4546 million units it had already generated 4850 million units and was likely to surpass its full year target that closes in March 2016.
On 6th July, 2015 Natpha Jhakri plant completed 10 years of operation and has generated over 75,000 million units of power during the period.
The power station is supplying power to the nine northern grid states namely Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh & Delhi.
