Shimla: To have a smooth transition from Value Added Tax (VAT) regime to the Goods and Service Tax (GST) roll out in Himachal Pradesh, the states Excise and Taxation department here has asked all dealers to furnish their PAN numbers.
“The Goods and Service Tax (GST) is being implemented shortly in the state for which the PAN numbers of the dealers are required for updating the departmental data base,” said a official spokesman.
Registration of dealers who would not provide information of their PAN within the stipulated time period would be considered as cancelled, he added.
Dealers have been asked to submit the PAN numbers to concerned excise and taxation officer before 17th August to avoid any inconvenience and cancellation of registrations.
The VAT taxation system was introduced following the enactment of the new law in 2005.
