Shimla: A onetime gain of Rs 571.25 crores for arrears on power sales made during the 2009-14 period have enabled SJVN, the public sector power company, to register a half yearly profit of Rs 1221.07 crore, which is 60.90 percent more than its corresponding period from of the last financial year.
The financial results of the company were declared at a meeting of the Board of Directors held at New Delhi today
Net profit of the company in 6 months for 2014-15 financial year has increased to Rs 1221.07 crore from Rs 758.87 crore earned during the corresponding period, last financial year, said a SJVN spokesman.
While the company’s total income increased from Rs. 1293.12 crore to Rs. 2011.03 crore, the PBT (Profit Before Tax) grew from Rs. 929.19 crore to Rs. 1512.81 crore.
The company’s EPS during the period has increased from Rs. 1.83 to Rs. 2.95.
With the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) approving the tariff for NJHPS for the period 2009-14, an amount of Rs. 571.25 crore on account of arrears has been included in sales, stated the spokesman.
Besides operating the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydropower project, the largest in the country so far, other projects that are generating power include the 412 MW Rampur project and the 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project.
