The 15-day Jukaru festival has embarked in the snow-bound Pangi valley in Chamba district of the state. During this festival, residents of the valley are going to worship local gods and goddesses of the area and greet one another wearing traditional costumes.
It is believed that festivals like this are symbolic of the cultural heritage of the region and facilitate in bringing happiness and prosperity to people of the valley.
In spite of the challenging life they lead, the locals gather together in a spirit of brotherhood and merry making, resulting in celebrating the event enthusiastically.
