Srinagar: Three people were killed today in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir when guerrillas attacked a camp of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), an official said.
The attack took place at a CRPF camp at Gagaran, about 55 km from here.
“In retaliatory firing by the CRPF, two militants were killed. From them weapons have been recovered,” a senior police officer told.
The identity of the third person killed in the shooting is not known yet.
One person was injured in the firing and was taken to a hospital.
Residents of Shopian town, however, said the slain people were civilians. Several groups of people protested in the town after the incident.
