Shimla: Profit making public sector power generation company SJVN on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs 255.99 crore as dividend to the union government for the 64.5 percent equity holding that it holds in the joint sector enterprise.
Chairman cum managing director RP Singh along with director finance AS Bindra handed the dividend cheque to Jyotiraditya Scindia, union power minister in the presence of secretary power Pradeep Kumar Sinha and other senior officers.
In the year 2013-13 SJVN, which only has the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri plant in operation, made a profit of Rs 1052.34 crore.
The Himachal Pradesh government holds a 25.5 percent equity in the company and 10 percent is with the public.
At the recently held AGM the PSU had declare a dividend of 0.96 paisa per share of Rs 10 value, making was total dividend payout of Rs 397.12 crore. Last year SJVN had made a total dividend payout of Rs 388.84 crore. The Jhakri plant completes 10 years of operation this year.
