Shimla: A pleasing single ‘Yeh Kya Jagah Hai Doston’ by upcoming singer Shubhank Sharma, set to a strumming guitar, the video for which has been shot amidst stunning locales was released here at a simple ceremony today.
Talking to Hill Post, Shubhank said that the song was composed with just one desire, “to reach out to the world with original blend of folk-inspired music and heartfelt lyrics.”
The Himachal Pradesh born singer has his heart in the mountains that has cast an influence on his music.
Firmly grounded to his hill roots, he says, “a tree would stand as tall and strong as the roots would allow. The sounds and culture of the hills hold deep attraction for me and my music.”
Having started out in 2005 as a guitarist and vocalist with Seraphim, a Chandigarh band, Shubhank has come a long way since then.
For the single released today, the young artist has both done the lyrics and composed the music by himself.
A regular performer at major clubs of Chandigarh, Shubhank has performed at Campus Rock idols for three years 2004, 05 and 06; at the Miss Tibet Beauty Pageant, Dharamshala in 2009 and at the Frost Bite music festival at Shimla in 2012 and 2013.
The video of ‘Yeh Kya Jagah Hai Doston’ has been shot by Snow Leopard Productions, a Shimla based video production house.
Speaking about the breathtaking Himalayan landscapes that make up the backdrop for the solo artist and his guitar, Rajeev Thakur, director the video said, “a surprise summer snowfall in Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh created the right ambience for the video.’
“Stranded at an elevation of over 15,000 feet for over week did have its hardships for the crew but continuing with the shoot was a challenging task,” said Rajeev Thakur.
