Chandigarh: More than 60 journalists faced an uncertain future as plans were drawn up to either curtail or shut down operations at the Day and Night television channel that operated from the city.
“A lot of people are on the firing line,” said a senior journalist of the Channel, wishing not be named as uncertainty prevailed in the television studios and office. “One is not even sure whether the television channel will continue operations or not,” he added.
Senior journalist Kanwar Sandhu was reported to have opted out as Managing Director of the four year old channel.
“At a specially convened meeting of staffers yesterday, Sandhu announced his decision to quit,” said the journalist on conditions of anonymity.
The television channel had been incurring losses. The channel caters to audiences in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the NRI community.
