UAE to set up centre for male victims of trafficking

Abu Dhabi, July 4 (IANS/WAM) The UAE will soon set up a centre for adult male victims of human trafficking and sexual abuse.

The new centre will be supervised by the Ewa’a Shelter for Women and Children in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, issued a resolution for establishing the centre.

Sheikh Hamdan said the UAE has launched several initiatives to combat human trafficking.

He said the move was part of the country’s commitment to putting an end to the “trans-border inhuman crime” and provide a safe shelter for victims of trafficking.
