Berlin, July 2 (IANS) Turkish international Halil Altintop has signed a two-year contract with Augsburg, the club announced.
The 30-year-old striker dissolved his contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor due to financial difficulties to move to Augsburg until 2015, reports Xinhua.
“Only due to the cancellation of the contract with Trabzonspor this transfer was feasible for us. We are delighted that Halil Altintop opted for Augsburg and for a comeback into the Bundesliga,” Augsburg’s general manager Stefan Reuter said Monday.
Altintop knows the Bundesliga as he started his professional career in Germany. He played for clubs such as Kaiserslautern, Schalke and Frankfurt.
“Halil already demonstrated his abilities when he scored 47 goals in more than 200 official matches,” Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl stated.
“Its nice to return to Germany and the Bundesliga. I am looking forward to my time in Augsburg,” Altintop said.
