Mumbai, June 5 (IANS) Actor Rohitashv Gaur, who will continue to play Mukundi in the second season of “Lapataganj”, confesses that he was heartbroken when the show went off air.
After the successful completion of 850 episodes, “Lapataganj” went off-air in January this year. But it is back as “Lapataganj Ek Baar Phir!” after taking a six-year leap.
“I was heartbroken when the show went off air. I could not see any point in that,” Rohitashv said here at the launch of “Lapataganj Ek Baar Phir”.
“But now the show is back so I am very, very happy. It’s like ‘blessing in disguise’ (for me),” he added.
Earlier, Rohitashv has been a part of the shows like “Hum Aapke Hain In Laws” and “Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam”.
“May be new colours and new flavours were destined to come in the show,” he said.
“Lapataganj” traced the life of a common man in a hypothetical village where basic amenities are scarce, but emotionally they were contented.
In “Lapataganj Ek Baar Phir!”, water, electricity, mobile phones and ATM facilities are provided to the villagers, but they continue to struggle as nothing works properly.
The new show promises much more flavour and many colourful stories.
Meanwhile, Sucheta Khanna, who plays Indumati, Mukundi’s wife in the show, is excited too.
“I am super charged (for the show) and I will give a better shot this time,” Sucheta said here. “It’s one of the most successful roles of my career,” she added.
Produced by Garima Productions and directed by Ashwani Dhir, “Lapataganj Ek Baar Phir!” will go on air June 10 at 10 p.m. on SAB TV.
