Chennai, June 1 (IANS) Japanese-Indian car maker Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd domestic sales went down by 35 percent last month as compared to the sales logged in May 2012.
In a statement issued Saturday, the company said it sold 10,023 units in the domestic market last month as compared to 15,501 in the corresponding month in 2012.
Taking into account exports of 2,479 units of Etios series to South Africa in May, the total sales was 12,502 units, the company said.
“The market continues to be sluggish. We have corrected the dealer’s inventory levels and have been able to bring it down to less than 30 days,” said Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director and chief operating officer.
