Bhubaneswar, June 27 (IANS) Internationally-acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik Thursday said he has been inducted as expert member of a panel which advises the central government on the development of tourism in the country.
Pattnaik, who is a native of Odisha’s beach town of Puri, about 56 km from here, said he has received a communication from the central tourism ministey that he has been made a member of the National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC).
The council has 14 members including Pattnaik from different fields and they will have a two-year tenure.
“I thank Tourism Minister K. Chiranjeevi. I am very glad to be member of the council,” Pattnaik told IANS.
The 36-year-old artist has participated in more than 50 international sand art competitions across the globe, and won many accolades.He recently won the Danish grand prize at Copenhagen, where he sculpted on the theme “Go Green, Save Earth”.
