Berlin, June 27 (IANS) Japan international Shinji Okazaki moved from Bundesliga side Stuttgart to join league rival Mainz until June 2016.
Okazaki will reinforce Mainz’s offence for the upcoming Bundesliga season 2013- 2014 following a signature under a three-year contract here Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
The 27-year-old striker played two years for Stuttgart slotting ten goals in 63 appearances. He has been a part of the Japan national soccer team and has scored 35 goals in 66 appearances.
“We are pleased that Shinji opted for Mainz. He is a team player, versatile in the offence and goal threatening,” Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel commented.
Mainz finished the campaign 2012- 2013 on 13th position with 42 points.
