Queen Elizabeth’s husband hospitalised

London, June 7 (IANS) Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, was hospitalised Thursday, Buckingham Palace said. He will turn 92 next week.

He was admitted to the London Clinic “for an exploratory operation following abdominal investigations”, reported Xinhua citing a statement on the official website of the British monarchy.

“He is expected to stay in hospital for up to two weeks,” said the statement.

Prince Phillip has not been in good health in recent years and hospitalised thrice in last two years due to blocked coronary artery and bladder infection.

He had to skip the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert and closing ceremony of the Paralympics last year.
