Vatican City, June 18 (IANS/AKI) Pope Francis has urged Catholics to turn the other cheek. “Are you angry with someone? Pray for that person. That is what Christian love is,” he said.
The Argentine pontiff has over six million followers on his @Pontifex account on microblogging website Twitter. His tweets are published in nine languages.
Francis said that the first priority for “true” Christians was to “allow the Lord to open up their hearts”.
“Allow Him to make us humble, mild and magnanimous,” Francis said.
He recalled that Christ told his disciples not only to turn the other cheek but to offer any aggressor the cloaks they were wearing.
Francis has been living at the Vatican’s Santa Marta residence, saying he has shunned the solitude of the papal apartments for “psychiatric reasons”.
