Islamabad, June 13 (IANS) A Pakistani Army officer was killed when he stepped on an explosive device during a search operation in the country’s Tirah valley in the Khyber Agency.
Lt. Col. Sajid Mushtaq was leading an operation to clear the Gulbai area of Maidan when an improvised explosive device exploded in a house, killing him on the spot, Dawn News reported, citing the army’s media wing.
The operation was launched after government forces had pushed militants out of the areaj, it added.
