Odisha varsity scripts placement record

Bhubaneswar, June 10 (IANS) City-based Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University Monday said a record 1,651 of its graduating students bagged job offers during a recent campus drive, despite the tough market conditions.

“Though unfavourable market conditions led to poor placements in some reputed institutions of the country, KIIT University achieved 89 percent placement averaging across all courses of study,” a university official told IANS.

“Out of 1,848 students eligible and interested for campus placements in six streams, 1,651 bagged job offers from 174 companies” he said.

More than 65 companies including Microsoft, Intel, Tata Steel, Tata Power, MuSigma, Aricent, Tata Consultancy Services and Accenture participated in the campus placement drive.

The highest salary package in Schools of Engineering, a unit of KIIT, was Rs.16.25 lakh per annum.

KIIT is a group of professional institutes – KIIT University and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences – that provide free education and vocational training to more than 20,000 tribal students.
