Chennai, June 3 (IANS) Tamil director Hari Gopalakrishnan, who is awaiting the release of Suriya-starrer Tamil action-drama “Singam 2”, says he is yet to have clarity on whether his film will be remade in Hindi or not.
The 2010 Tamil film “Singam” was remade in Hindi as the Ajay Devgn-starrer “Singham”.
“We haven’t been approached by the makers of “Singham” for the remake of ‘Singam 2’. However, we hear that they already have a script for the sequel and are most likely to go ahead with it. I will have clarity on this only after they watch our film,” Hari told IANS.
“Since they seem to have a script for Hindi sequel ready, in all probability ‘Singam 2’ may be remade as ‘Singham 3’ in Hindi. Of course, the decision to remake the film rests with them and it’s too early to comment. Presently, I’m looking forward to the release of my film,” he added.
“Singam 2” is the sequel to “Singam”, which was also remade in Kannada with Kiccha Sudeep in the lead.
Suriya will reprise of the role of a young righteous cop in “Singam 2”, but this time he will chase baddies in foreign soil.
“The story will take Suriya to foreign soil, especially places such as South Africa, Malaysia and Singapore. He will lock horns with international villains and fight for a global issue. This time he will represent Indian police, instead of just Tamil Nadu,” he said.
The film also features Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Nassar, Santhanam, Vivek, Vijayakumar, Radha Ravi and Anjali.
Prince Pictures has produced “Singam 2”, which has music by Devi Sri Prasad. The film is scheduled to release in June.
