Kabul, June 10 (IANS) A NATO soldier was killed in a blast in Afghanistan Monday, the coalition force confirmed.
“One International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member died following an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan today,” Xinhua reported, quoting a statement of the NATO-led ISAF.
The statement gave neither the nationality of the victim nor the details about the incident under the ISAF policy.
The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the militant group launched spring offensive in late April against government forces and 100,000-strong NATO-led troops stationed in the country.
A total of 84 foreign soldiers, most of them Americans, have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year.
