Yangon, June 4 (IANS) Myanmar President U Thein Sein Tuesday vowed to free political prisoners, as he tried to build bridges with those opposing and suspecting the democratic reforms process.
During his monthly radio speech to the nation, U Thein Sein said he never wanted to see politicians in prison while assuring that the remaining political prisoners would be released soon and that he would never use such prisoners as political tools, Xinhua reported.
Speaking about his recent working visit to the US, the president said his trip was for building confidence with the Washington towards ensuring lifting of all sanctions.
